Corniche serves wonderful steak

Corniche

I was invited several weeks ago by Spanky Enriquez and the good people of Manila Diamond Hotel to Steak Nights at Corniche. Corniche is a French word which means a road on the side of a cliff or ledge. Diamond Hotel is not anywhere near a cliff but they have this gorgeous landscape with waterfalls.

this looks better in person

Steak Nights at Diamond Hotel isn’t just about steaks. They’re actually their standard buffet plus the added lineup of succulent choice cut steaks. I was a Manila Diamond buffet virgin and was very eager to dig in. I started off with appetizers and different types of maki. I found them just passable so I immediately moved on to main entree. I sampled the cochinillo, roast beef, and parmesan-encrusted fish. I enjoyed the fish which was perfectly battered and cooked so that the fish was still moist and the parmesan crunchy.

Roast Beef and Cochinillo

I was tempted to have a second helping of the fish but I had to make space for steak!

choice cuts

The steak variety to choose from are US Striploin, US Rib Eye, US Hanger, Beef Tenderloin, and Roasted US Prime Rib. Embarrassing but I tried all of them and not just small portions. The one I really liked was the rib eye which was marinated and seared to perfection. Well, I found it perfect anyway. Plus the steak fat was muy deliciouso!

Yummy steak. Not so good photo

I wouldn’t leave without trying the desserts Diamond Hotel is known for. I’m a slow eater and a lot of the desserts I wanted to try were gone by the time I got to the dessert station. Fortunately,  there were still a couple of slices of mille-feuille which made up for the missed sweets. It was so heavenly! I think I got three slices even though I felt like my stomach was bursting at the seams. There was no more space for the famous ensaymadas but luckily, we were given a couple to take home. I know so many people love their ensaymadas but I find them too rich. They’re so buttery, I didn’t want to harm my heart any further. Seriously, they’re good but I couldn’t and wouldn’t finish an entire bread.
