Much has already been said about Wildflour Cafe + Bakery and I’m going to add a bit to the noise. I just dined at the “cafe” with my family and we have differing opinions on the place. My mom wasn’t happy with their food but she isn’t a foodie. My sister liked her order and mine. I loved what I ate but I won’t line up there for an hour just to dine.
We got the Crispy Potatoes for appetizer and I was disappointed with it. It wasn’t crispy so why name it “crispy potatoes” at all?
P110 is steep for cappuccinno but at least they serve good coffee.
The Croque Madame is savory and very filling. Overpriced in my opinion though. This was my sister’s order.
No photo of the Salmon Sandwich my mom ordered because she dug in before I could take a photo. The salmon is very fresh but mom found the sandwich too simple. I liked it but again, overpriced.
I ordered the Soup, Salad, Sandwich because of Table For Three’s review about it. The salad is dressed with citrus juice, I think tangerine, so it’s sweet and much to my liking. The soup is a perfect tomato soup. Not sour but slighty tangy. The sandwich is a a perfectly grilled cheese (cheddar and emmenthal) with generously buttered brioche. It is greasy. It is fatty. It is good! The best thing is this order is it’s good value for our money.
For me, Wildflour Cafe + Bakery serves hearty comfort foods. The prices might be dictated by it being in a prime location but once the buzz goes down, I don’t know if the current regulars will keep on coming back. I’ll go back to Wildflour Cafe + Bakery for the Soup, Salad, Sandwich but like I said earlier, I won’t line up for it. I’ll avoid the cafe’s peak hours or make a reservation. I certainly don’t want to dine there when it’s crowded because the acoustics is bad, what with the glass walls and all.
